Day 31: Thank you!
(image via weheartit)
Here we are! Day 31 of my 31 days of blogging. Thank you so much to everyone who has been reading along. Knowing you wanted to read what I have to say definitely encouraged me to write faithfully every day. And I think I’ve really established a habit, which was the entire point to begin with!
I need to decide where I want to go from here. I’m glad I’m...

Little Things That Thrill Me: iPhone edition
It is SO MUCH EASIER than it used to be to transfer my music from computer #1 to iPhone to computer #2. I’m glad Apple’s taken (some of) the difficulty out of listening to the music I bought. WAHOOOO.

Writers write.
My aim is to put down what I see and what I feel in the best and simplest way I can tell it. - Ernest Hemingway
I had a meeting with my boss on Friday, and to start it off, she asked me what I want to do with my life.
Without much pause, I told her I want to write.
Writing every day (for work and more recently for this blog) has breathed new life into my love for writing. Now that I’m...

Ukulele Wednesday: Jolene
Welcome back to Ukulele Wednesday!
Since I was too sick to record a new video last week, I’m going to make it up to you this week with a SPECIAL GUEST STAR! It’s my talented husband, Josh. I hope you enjoy our take on “Jolene!”

Make it happen.
I owe it to myself to:
Do what I love. What I miss the most about college is writing. I carried a journal in my bag, and when I had a spare moment, I was writing. I think I was a much better writer then, because I was giving myself time to practice – and I was working, studying, and (usually) acting in a show, so I can’t make any excuses or try to say I had more time then. I didn’t.

Making the most of Monday
Happy Monday, everyone!
This morning, I decided to make the most of Monday. I got to the office a little early and traded out my regular old chair for a large exercise ball — the effect on my day was instant and clear! First of all, you have to actually balance when your chair is a balance ball, which resulted in a nice little sneaky workout for my core. PLUS, chair dancing is way more fun...

The Asheville Review: Tingles Cafe
Josh and I headed to Tingles Cafe for breakfast/brunch this morning, and (SPOILER ALERT) it was fantastic.
Our service was wonderful, it wasn’t crowded (a small wonder considering how great the food is and how clutch brunch spots are in Asheville on Saturday morning), and the food. was. fantastic.
Tingles Cafe is one of that set of wonderful businesses that really embraces all the...

Website Facelift!
Hooray! My website, corleymay.com, has a face once again! Gone are the days of auto-redirecting to this blog. I know it’s not much right now - but that’s because I don’t need much right now. Just a little bit of information on who I am and what I do - and this new site will do just fine for those purposes.
Josh took the photo on our anniversary visit to the Biltmore Estate. I...

Ukulele Wednesday: Don't Think Twice
Hello, friends!
I know today is Wednesday, which means it’s UKULELE WEDNESDAY…
…but to be honest with you, nothing good would come of me singing with this cold-burdened voice. I’m gross. And while I could probably swing a pretty good Johnny Cash impression this week, I’d much rather leave you with a song from the archives. So, without further adieu, here’s...

I Want That: Poor Little Sick Girl
You may have heard - I’m sick.
One of my favorite things to do when I’m sick is to use my fever as an excuse to buy myself a treat. And since one of my favorite (and time-tested) remedies is plenty of hot water with lemon and honey, I’ve found myself browsing etsy for cute coffee mugs. Wanna see my favorites? Of course you do!

Chef Corley is a great cook.
You can tell by checking out that AWESOME apron that I am on my way to being a chef to be reckoned with. Earlier this afternoon, I went on an epic cabinet-reforming grocery trip - veggies and fruits and quinoa and lots of other things that Josh dubbed weird and atypical — which I think means I’m doing a good job with this whole change-the-way-I-eat thing.
Tonight, as Josh watched...

Tangled up in Date Night
I totally had a date tonight.
First, though, I came home to THESE incredible delayed Christmas gift works of art:
rarrr….
I emailed Josh a little after lunch to flirt a little and ask him on a date. Thank goodness he accepted (I’m terrible with rejection) and we made plans to see a “Tangled” at 8:10.
Here’s the deal. I picked the movie and I am NOT ashamed.
I...

The Moe's Makeover
When Josh proposed to me and I started getting visions of myself in a strapless wedding dress dancing through my head, I knew I had to take action. So I joined Weight Watchers. And it worked! In the six months leading up to my wedding, I managed to lose about 15 lbs. I didn’t reach my goal weight, but I was completely happy with how I looked for my wedding and honeymoon.
Then, we came...

Bring It On Home To Me
It’s time again for Ukulele Wednesday!
Today’s song is “Bring It On Home To Me.” I LOVE this song, and the chords weren’t tough, but I had a lot of trouble with singing and getting the rhythm right at the same time. Josh tried to give me a few pointers, but I think a lot of it is just technique that will come with practice - which I didn’t do enough of this...

I. AM. VICTORIOUS.
I am currently feeling victorious over two things:
1. A full day’s work despite the distractions that come with working from home. I just put on my headphones and WENT there, and I feel really great about my sense of duty and work ethic right now. Nyerd alert.
2. I JUST WASHED ALL THE DIRTY CLOTHES IN THIS HOUSE. And some sheets, our tablecloth, two placemats, the dirty napkins, and even...

#avlsnomg - THE SEQUEL
Remember last year, when it seemed to snow every weekend? Well, it’s baaa-aack!
Only THIS time we had plenty of groceries to start with and we can walk to anywhere we need to go. Much better.
It was fun to remember last year, though - at least the first few days, when we were all updating each other on twitter and someone came up with the #avlsnomg tag and it felt like we were all in...

I Want That: Chuck's Entire Wardrobe
You know, it’s funny - this puppy hasn’t even hit Asheville yet:
(map from Accuweather)
…and I still managed to spend the entire day acting like I was snowed in. I watched “A Star Is Born” - first the Judy Garland version, then just the very beginning and very end of the Barbra Streisand version - Judy’s was far superior. (duuuu-uuuuuh) Then I started on the...

Chili Night!
“There’s no better meal in the winter than chili,” Josh says.
“Can I quote you on that?” I ask. He thinks about it.
“No. There are better meals. But none that we know how to cook,” he says.
To be fair, Josh is really, really good at making chili.
Intimidatingly good.
Just kidding. He’s not mean about it or anything.
After making an...
